Deploying and maintaining BT Openreach's NGN Access network (VDSL2 FTTC / GPON FTTP).

After redundancy from Cable & Wireless Worldwide, I took several months off to travel, before starting a new chapter in my career.

• Cisco router and switch, NORTEL Passport and Alcatel ATM support.• BC and SC Cleared – valid until 2016• Provided proactive monitoring and 1st/2nd line support of the C&W Internal Corporate and Transmission Data Networks• Maintained high levels of service availability across the IP data network ensuring adherence to the 99% Service Level Agreement (SLA)• Diagnosed faults on customer leased-lines & CPE equipment into the C&W network. Performed testing while coordinating with local-tail providers through to fault resolution • Liaised with internal and external agencies to resolve issues.• Interacted with field engineers to perform numerous remote router/switch hardware & software upgrades for both the DCN network and customer premises equipment (CPE)• Identified and investigated issues relating to WAN/LANs, VLANs, VPN, routing and switching to post fault reporting• Developed and delivered training for new and out of hours team members

In house installation, implementing and test of ISDN, G.703 / E1, X.25, X.21, V.24 V.35, RS.530 and Ethernet networks using Protocol Analysers.Supervision of a team of engineers, providing support for nine fibre optic software controlled multiplexed networks, and numerous point-to-point systems.Installation, termination and testing of single and multi-mode fibre optics.System analysis and diagnostics, using Protocol Analysers and Terminal Emulators.Engineering, monitoring and fault diagnosis of Satellite and HF data transmission.Design and implementation of short notice contingency comms worldwide.Maintenance on a wide range of multiplexers, modems and encryption devicesTeam member working on National and Worldwide installation of airfield Radars, communications, and navigational aids.Travelling nationally and internationally (road/air), working in often difficult and challenging situations, often to tight deadlines.
