I am currently working as an Art Editor in the Licensing Department of Dorling Kindersley. I have over 20 years of experience working as a designer in publishing, and I have an extensive and in-depth knowledge of Adobe software having used Photoshop for 27 years and Indesign for 18.I have been responsible for many successful book jackets over the years, taking them from initial concept, through various stages of approvals to final repro-ready files. Depending on the nature of the titles, these jackets have utilised new photography, newly commissioned illustration work, or existing licensor-supplied photography and artwork. I have been responsible for several photoshoots including those for “Board Games in 100 Moves” and “Lego Awesome Ideas” (which also featured an animated lenticular which I created). I have researched, commissioned, and managed illustrators on numerous titles such as “The World’s Wildest Places”, “Batman The Ultimate Guide (2022)” and “The Met: Mystery at the Museum” I have also personally illustrated several DK books including “Star Wars Coding Projects” and contributed illustrations to “Marvel Spider-Man Swing into Action!” and “Star Wars Complete Locations”.I am currently managing small teams on several titles concurrently, effectively communicating feedback to everyone, and ensuring good communication between licensors, editors, designers, and illustrators. I have experience of scheduling and managing the budgets of titles, as well as raising offer letters, contracts, POs and managing freelancer invoices. I am used to supplying sales jackets and marketing material for bookfairs and online. I also keenly follow trends in contemporary graphic design and illustration.
