Unit Controller
Current• Shift Panel operating of the DCS system for the facility including Boiler and Steam Turbine. This includes all aspects of operations such as synchronising / De-synchronising units, offloading and loading of units, and day to day general running of units.• Assessing Unit load availability based on generation limitations such as coal availability, Pulverised Fuel Mill availability and Market/ system restraints.• Monitoring and Operating of all Auxiliary plant including but not limited to; Fuel Oil Burners (FOB’s), Sootblower and Waterblower systems, Turbine Oil System, Seal Oil and Hydrogen Systems, Stator Water, Cooling Water, Auxiliary Cooling Water and Condenser Systems. Coal Feeder Group Conveyor Belt system.• Onsite training of new Unit Controllers and Assistant Unit Controllers.• Writing and implementing of site Permit to Work procedures, including full isolation criteria.• Organising and maintaining contact with onsite personnel from Operations, Chem Team (Lab Technicians), Maintenance planners and personnel, contractors, management as well as offsite assets such as traders, systems operators (Ausnet) and AEMO to ensure normal operating conditions are kept.• Recording and developing maintenance lists through computerised systems for work to be completed onsite.• Isolation and Earthing of 20kV Unit Transformers.• Remote Racking and Earthing of 6.6kV Circuit Breakers.• Application and removal of Flexible Earths to Electrostatic Dust Precipitator HV Transformer sets as well as Phase Interbus Cooling and Neutral Earth Transformer Earths.
