A gentle career progression within the folds of Arbtech's skirts. Whilst retaining my existing surveying duties I am also responsible for the production arboricultural implications assessments, tree protection plans and arboricultural method statements to BS5837:2012. An additional new challenge is the undertaking and reporting of regular monitoring visits and supervising works on active construction sites.

After a short freelance association with the organisation I am happy to have accepted a full time position with Arbtech Consulting Ltd.With offices across the UK I am based in the south-east undertaking surveys and the production of arboricultural reports to support:Mortgage Approval;Tree Condition and Safety;Planning Application to BS5837-2012 specifications.

Currently undertaking Tree Surveys and producing CAD plans in-line with the requirements of BS5837-2012 for clients making development applications to LPAs across the UK.

Primarily responsible for organising of timely delivery of contractual obligations to clients across the public and private sector. This includes the provision of safe work systems, PPE and well maintained equipment to our tree crews, a system based on the LOLER and PUWER requirements from the UK.Our clients require Arboricultural reports for differing reasons including, but not limited to, risk assessment and management, development applications, root mapping, pre-house/land purchase, diagnosis of poor health. My remaining time is divided between tree survey data collection and the production of documents which suit client requirements. Many of these documents require the use of CAD software to display tree data or local authority restrictions on survey plans.

Lead climber and site foreman in a team of 3 tree workers responsible for safe and efficient completion of scheduled works and adherence to company policy and procedures.Data collection and tree report compilation for state government agencies advising on tree condition, liability and infrastructural issues.Development of company Health and Safety policy and procedure, Site Specific Risk Assessment documentation and regular, documented equipment inspection.

Whilst retaining all the duties of a FOREMAN added responsibilities are undertaken. A direct responsibility for the completion of larger and more complex contracts including direct contact with all stakeholders. The allocation of works for 2 to 4 separate teams at different locations. Provision of quotations for tree work to management for the private and public sector.

Head a team of 3, as lead climber, ensuring accurate interpretation of work specifications and professional delivery of arboricultural services. Ensure company policy and procedures are adhered to by all on site. Complete all job related documentation correctly.Instruction of trainee staff in climbing and rigging techniques as well as chainsaw use and maintenance.

Initially the second climber in the team performing specific operations as directed by my foreman. Progression was swift to lead climber.
