I am a poet, spoken word artist, educator and organizer of mixed Ashkenazi Jewish and Scottish heritage, living in the territory of the Michi Saagiig Anishinabek in Nogojiwanong – Peterborough, Ontario. I organize and mentor emerging poets as the current Artistic Director for the Peterborough Poetry Slam Collective. I am one half of the spoken word duo WordCraft, as well as being one the co-creators and lead artists of the Take-out Poetry Project. My poetry has been featured at poetry slam and spoken word series across Canada, as well as at The Words Aloud Poetry Festival, the Storytellers of Canada National Conference, the Saskatoon Poetic Arts Festival and the Precarious Festival. I was the producer and host of the show Blank Pages, Pens and Stages at Trent Radio between 2018 and 2020 and was the lead producer on the documentary Pushback. I have has also produced a series of cinepoems, an EP entitled “The Whisper Sessions”(2019), and four chapbooks of Poetry. I recently completed workshopping my first full-length, one-person play entitled "Bubbie's Tapes" and am currently workshopping my latest project, “Enkidu,” which will debut at The Theatre on King in January 2023. In addition to my work in the arts, for over a decade, I have also worked as an Employment Counsellor, a Job Coach and a Workshop and Resource Designer/Facilitator with EPC Peterborough advocating for unemployed, under-employed and marginalized workers to help them move into positions of stable and sustainable employment. I am a passionate advocate for my clients who believes in empowering people to be able to plan for and make meaningful changes in their lives. In both my artistic and professional careers, I pride myself on being able to motivate people and coordinate the activities of others in order to bring projects to their successful completion. Colleagues know me as a highly creative, thoughtful person who works well in collaboration with others to solve problems and achieve goals. My professional work feeds my creative work and vice-versa. I have a B.A. from York University in Creative Writing and Communications Theory, an M.A. from Trent University in Theory, Culture and Politics. I am also a certified level two Motivational Interviewing practitioner. I am also a Certified Career Development Practitioner.
