Located off a busy freeway near downtown Dallas, Texas, our clients expected Fast Signs type service, as well as more customized services. I learned silkscreen printing and machining. We had a CNC plasma cutter which we transformed into a CNC router table with a high frequency spindle. My duties included, logo design & cleanup, rapid turnaround sign layout & production, custom machining projects, mechanical & electronic troubleshooting of CNC machinery and special project development. I continued to work part time on special projects for several months after starting my next job, at Fource Communications.

My boss from The Expo Group, Paul Dominguez, started a small exposition company with his wife, Jamie. He recruited me to be his designer after his departure. I learned gypsum wallboard installation, as well as taping & bedding, in preparation of the new facilities. My duties consisted of trade show sign design, client logo cleanup, booth design and set design.

I initially was employed as temporary seasonal help performing manual labor in a warehouse environment. Because of my eye for detail and willingness to learn new things, I was transferred to the Sign Shop and took over as lead designer within my first two weeks. During my time there, I designed signs, trade show booths, stages and stage sets, as well as troubleshoot electrical problems with portable stage lighting, computer software & hardware, and computer hardware keys. After leaving The Expo Group, I returned on several occasions when they required assistance or consultation on special projects.

Creating eye-catching trial graphics and demonstrative model exhibits for wrongful death and class action lawsuits was always the order of the day. I was responsible for the design & construction of scale models ranging in size from 1:96 to 5:1 scale, design & layout of trial graphic presentation boards, photographic reproduction of evidence & crime scene photos and design of marketing material for the business.
