Most of my life has been built on an appreciation and passion for the arts and its influences. The people I have met through these endeavors have shaped me in remarkable ways. Whether it was the first rock band I joined, or the home camcorder flicks created with friends, the challenges and failures of these early experiences are what I credit for my accomplishments. In my seven years of news videography, I have had the opportunity to tell stories of all varieties with a single/multi-camera production. I am an avid fan of film cinematography and love to incorporate ideas and styles that have inspired me. News is obviously very different from the cinema, but it sharpens the way I think and act while in the field. Unpredictability, time restraints, and limited resources force me to adapt and work more efficiently in a documentary way of shooting. In most cases, it comes down to improvisation and quick decisions. When the final product turns out to be good, I remember that it's not about having the most expensive camera, best crew, or controlled environments. It's about the sacrifice, mistakes, and motivation to learn more and do better. There are infinite things to gain, even from only a small amount of effort and courage. There are many skills to learn and ideas to be discovered. I strive to be inspired by life, the people in it, and the art we can create.
