As a communications manager and team leader with Garver's Transportation Planning and Environmental Team, I direct communication and public involvement efforts for a wide range of Garver environmental, transportation, and project controls projects, programs, and services. My responsibilities include developing materials to educate and inform, ensuring unified messages and branding across communication platforms, organizing public involvement and stakeholder meetings, developing virtual and online public meetings, writing and updating project reports, overseeing the development of project branding, providing content for and managing project websites, and preparing news releases, travel impact notices, and other announcements related to projects. I also provide communications services for billion-dollar state department programs, including the Connecting Arkansas Program for ARDOT and the IKE Program for KDOT.During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I quickly developed virtual public meeting websites when in-person meetings were not possible. This enabled Garver to host virtual public meetings for more than 30 projects for departments of transportation, cities, and counties in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri. Nearly 15,000 visitors engaged with our virtual meeting sites, amassing 1,000 hours of engagement and more than 50,000 pageviews. My responsibilities include developing and overseeing the strategy, development, and implementation of communication tools for the public involvement process. This includes writing communication plans and public involvement summaries, coordinating stakeholder meetings, conducting public involvement meetings and hearings in accordance with local government, departments of transportation, and FHWA guidelines, developing virtual and online public meetings, and implementing localized outreach plans to notify and engage with the public.
