• Responsible for ensuring the organisation successfully transitions to new ways of working aligned to the Maritime Fleet Sustainment Services agreement, a 7.5yr $1B contract between the New Zealand Defence Force and Babcock NZ for sustainment of the Royal New Zealand Navy Fleet. This is a critical role for the organisation, leading the drive for breakthrough performance, and establishing a collaborative and strategic relationship.

• Led and managed the Asset Management Strategy project for the Maritime Engineering Support Team, developing an elegant asset management system for a complex and highly silo’d environment.• Transitioned the company from being reactive, utilising priority-based decisions and a proactive, informed risk-based approach. • Created and published tailored ISO 55000 certified artefacts, including Strategic Asset Management Plan, Asset Management Plans for the ships and an Asset Risk Framework.

• Led the timely delivery of robust engineering advice, decisions, and direction in support of the Royal New Zealand Navy’s operational programme as Head of the Design Authority. • Driving technical governance by ensuring that suitably qualified and experienced personnel had the appropriate policies, processes, and instructions to fulfil their duties. • Managed the platform configuration baseline and ensured the baseline met operational, regulatory and capability requirements.

• Managed the Engineering Change Proposals portfolio across the Royal New Zealand Navy’s fleet; enabling projects to be realised in support of the Navy’s operational programme. I established and maintained the 5-year programme, provided an annual financial forecast and quarterly re-forecast, and engaged with the New Zealand Ministry of Defence and Capability Branch in support of capability integration across the Royal New Zealand Navy’s fleet.

Whenuapai, New Zealand

As the functional role of Senior Avionics Engineering Manager, I led and managed all off-aircraft avionics maintenance, fault confirmation and repair across the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s fleet. The squadron had up to 105 military and civilian avionics technicians located across Whenuapai and Ohakea.• Led significant and positive cultural change across a geographically split unit; considerably reducing backlog, clarifying roles, responsibilities, processes, and empowering work to be conducted in-house. • Exercised engineering authority across the fleet; approving changes and repairs to avionics systems.• Prepared annual forecasts, midyear re-forecasts and managed the budget on a monthly cycle.
