• Manage development and implementation of IT and data archive policies in collaboration with the NEESinc Board and both the IT and Data Sharing/Archiving Committees, and assure compliance of such policies with sponsor requirements and with legal responsibilities of the corporation.• Manage all aspects of the major subawards with NEESit including providing high-level engineering-domain perspective and product-requirement oversight of all NEES IT products.• Develop reports and recommendations regarding IT matters for the Board of Directors and committees, and support development of new sponsored IT initiatives approved by the Board.
• Designed and implemented a finite element package with the primary intention of it being used by bridge analysis and design software systems. It is a combination of Fortran and C++ with an API callable by client applications.• Primary architect and implementer of the engineering utility classes (Leap Software’s business rules) used by all new applications at Leap.• Responsible for establishing the software development processes currently in use at Leap.• ConsplicePT – One of two engineers involved in the design and development of a time-dependent, splice girder analysis and design application (MFC/C++).• Conbox – One of three engineers involved in the design and development of a concrete boxgirder analysis and design application. This is a production design Windows/MFC application used by engineers designing west-coast type bridges.• Application Interoperability – Designed and implemented an XML/XSD based database/API that allowed Leap applications to share data.
• BXLRFD - Assisted in the writing of a proposal for the development of several applications for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After the successful award of the contract, I was the single developer of a concrete box culvert application.• AASHTO-BDS - Assisted in the writing of the AASHTO-BDS proposal for the development of a national bridge design program to be used by all member states. Developed the primary control system and a variety of other parts (a text editor/error reporting system). Developed a propriety language used for the control system with a related compiler that generated an intermediate language and also developed the text-based menu system that was used as the primary user interface.
• SEISAB - Primary developer of a seismic analysis for bridges program that is used by hundreds of consultants across the nation, many state highway departments and several foreign countries.• STDS - Primary developer for a Segmental Time Dependent application (STDS) used in the analysis of large concrete bridge structures built using the balanced cantilever method.
• Assistant Research Engineer working in the Research Section. The work emphasized modifying a reinforced earth analysis program to make it applicable to flexible culvert analysis. An important objective was to model slip at the soil-culvert interface; a new finite element type was added to capture the soil culvert relative movement, a new plane strain transitional element was added to simplify the FE mesh and a circular bending element was added to better model the culvert.• Performed field correlation studies with the modified FE program to fine-turn the nonlinear soil parameters (Duncan Hyperbolic model) used for the continuum elements modeling the soil. A structural steep plate pipe culvert was instrumented and tested to failure using extremely high fills.
