My career has given me rich experiences in many areas of life. In 2006, I co-founded Re:cognition a training, engagement and consultancy organisation building a growing base of clients across the UK. Skills18 years’ experience as an equality / diversity trainer / course designer, clients include: Arts Council, Local Authorities, WMC & Welsh Government. E.g. Service Provision programmes for Welsh Government economic development departments, a programme delivered to 600 staff & using active methods introducing the history, philosophy and practice of Equality & Inclusion. 25 years’ experience of development, assisting voluntary organisations all over the UK.12 years experience as a guest lecturer at 3 universities, focusing on Social Model implementation. I also guest lecturer on the MSc Genetic Counselling Course at the Institute of Medical Genetics. In this role I focus on the ethical considerations of their future work. Since 1997, I have in one form or another been continually contracted by the Welsh Government, developing policy, statutory guidance, training and engagement methods. I also have a role within Welsh Government Comms. I have developed and implemented many large scale Consultation and Engagement events and processes including many public bodies to assist in their response to their equality duties. These include pan Wales Engagement events for the new Social Service Bill, the Children’s Measure and most recently the new Organ Donation Bill which required education and engagement within all faith and BME groups in Wales. I was a client advisor with the WDA Potentia project assisting disabled people into self-employment. This role, allowed insights into the real pressures and barriers facing people in Wales. I supported over 300 clients. As part of this role, I delivered equality training to around 650 people working in business support.
