Jon Falconer’s work conveys a passion and engagement with life in all its manifestations. Through mixed media installation including poetry/text, painting, sculpture, photography and more recently performance Jon invites the spectator to be an active participant/collaborator in his work. The work is achingly honest, reflecting on ecology, politics, childhood, and the personal without being self-indulgent. His latest development of combining the experiential qualities of installation with performance poetry and the spoken word is a strong progression in his practice. His paintings are a palimpsest of experiences and a document of how he relates to the world. He has a lot to give; his work bypasses sentimentalism and avoids being schmaltzy but it isn’t afraid to address naked emotions, love and care for people and the world around him.
