My core skills are within the full stack with a WPF or windows front end and sql server back end. But having worked in relatively small companies who are doing quite a lot with technology, my experience is much wider than that. I've done web development, system architecture, built APIs, database administration, built a data warehouse amongst other things. But I think that's missing the point. Those are the things I happen to have worked on and now have experience of. I think more important than those things is in my attitude and approach to work. It's in a thousand little decisions to go a bit further. It's in not just answering the question being asked but also giving the extra information that will be needed to deal with the business need behind the questions. It's in thinking more widely than the current topic of discussion so that there are positive outcomes in other areas too. It's in not just getting the system to work but also keeping it easy to monitor and maintain, ensuring that (wherever possible) it becomes easier to work on, not harder.I'm passionate about building software and systems well, not for their own sake, but to meet business needs. I understand that communication is key, simplicity is best and that usually a little more time spent now will make things much easier later on. I like to learn and I like to teach so that the whole team improves. I can learn new skills and technologies, that never takes long. It's the attitude that makes the difference.
