The Mission of HopeTree Family Services is to provide Christian residential, educational, and support services to at-risk children and youth, and to adults with intellectual disabilities, throughout Virginia.

Family Preservation Services (FPS) is the largest human services organization in Virginia. FPS provides behavioral and mental health services through evidence based practices to individuals and families in their home, school, or community. Our programs, offered by trained therapists and paraprofessionals under the direct supervision of licensed clinicians, include but are not limited to; Intensive In-home Services, Mental Health Support, Therapeutic Day Treatment, Substance Abuse Services, Therapeutic Foster Care, Virtual Residential Program, Parenting Programs, Mentoring and more.

STEP, Inc. is a Community Action Agency serving low-income residents of Franklin, Henry, and Patrick County and the City of Martinsville, Virginia. STEP has an annual budget of $5 million, 115 + employees, 24 programs serving more than 5,000 people. Services include Homeless Programs, Senior Meals and Transportation Services, Ex-offender services, Head Start/Early Head Start, Youth Development Programs, LIFES Academy, Housing & Weatherization, and more. Other responsibilities include;  Effectively communicating, working with, and educating local, state and national political leaders and agencies to secure or maintain current funding and to improve service delivery.  Conduct ongoing evaluation of programs to ensure all components are operating at maximum efficiency and effectiveness.  Work with and assist the board of directors, to include developing and monitoring the agency’s strategic plan, recruitment of new members, ensuring tri-partite board composition, and providing annual training for all board members.  Increased STEP’s visibility by developing significant marketing and branding opportunities to include brochures, newsletter, website, new logo on all materials and vehicles and annual report.  Planned, developed and secured funding to build two new buildings, the first in STEP’s history; a 7,300 square foot, $1.3 million facility financed through USDA Rural Development and a 2,000 square foot early childhood education center for Patrick County.  Developed best practices for the agency that include; annual program directors retreat, strategic plan development and execution, annual volunteer banquet, United Way campaign, staff development and STEP Leadership Program.  Managed the single greatest period of growth in the history of STEP; since November 2004, STEP’s budget grew from $2 million annually to nearly $6 million; added more than 50 staff positions and 9 programs, increasing the number of people served by more than 500%.

Supervised and managed the largest male involvement/fatherhood program in the state of Virginia including For Males Only, Fathers at Work, Reaching Out to Adolescent Dads, and VA CARES ex-offender services. TAP was one of six programs nationally to receive "Fathers at Work" national demonstration project through the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The Social Policy Action Network named Fathers at Work one of the "Twelve Fatherhood Programs (in the nation) That Work."

Provided support, expertise, and recommendations to help fatherhood programs improve their service delivery, outreach and recruitment, participant retention and develop outcomes to prove their program's effectiveness.

Trained fatherhood programs across the country to utilize the "Fatherhood Development" curriculum. Programs participated in a three-day training designed to enable them to implement a support group for their programs.

Directed the implementation and expansion of the For Males Only program by providing counseling, group education and role modeling to thousands of young men to aid in teen pregnancy prevention efforts in Roanoke City. Co-founded the Reaching Out to Adolescent Dads (ROAD) program, the first teen fatherhood program in Virginia. The ROAD program received special recognition by Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore in 2000.
