About Jon Murphy

Background in Health and ITThroughout my career I have kept the specialities of medical laboratory science and information technologies running in parallel: from lab bench and software development to SME private company management. My early work was as a medical scientist in a hospital pathology lab (Flinders Medical Centre, Flinders University, Adelaide). This included patient specimen testing along with developing DEC-based software to manage patient datasets, then providing screen-based clinical information and quality control results.During my time at IBM Canberra I specialised in the health sector. One of my more significant achievements as Sales Representative was a successful tender for the initial installation of IBM hardware and provision of software support services for the Repatriation Hospitals under Department of Veterans’ Affairs. This installation is now one of IBM’s largest with the Australian Federal Government. For 22 years I was the Executive Director of a private pathology company. Areas under my management included: liaison with medical practitioners, staffing, day-to-day financial operations, supply-chains, government regulations, government-mandated quality assessments, taxation requirements, and ensuring profitable ROI in a ‘price-taker’ environment. I led development of the in-house software to facilitate daily operations central to continuance of business.ActionfromVision Web-Based WorkIn 2017 I authored and developed a web-based decision-making platform which provided equal input for all participants. This was very useful for groups working in multiple and remote locations and for strategic planning exercises. To some extent, the advent of Microsoft Teams during the pandemic lockdowns served a similar purpose.Australian Institute of Company DirectorsI am a Fellow of the AICD (FAICD).Deep Instinct and CybersecurityIn December 2021 I joined the sales initiative for Deep Instinct in Australia and New Zealand. The Deep Instinct app. presents an opportunity for a quantum leap forward in cybersecurity protection software. Its unique design as a deep learning neural network (specifically designed for cybersecurity), takes traditional Machine Learning into an environment of independent self-learning and self-updating - without the need for human intervention. My role is to assist Australian Businesses and Governments to embrace the rapid change in cybersecurity and achieve a remarkable ROI.VDRLab.com.auI am the sole Director of VDRLab – virus diagnosis recovery protection Pty Ltd.

The Deep Instinct (DI) cybersecurity app. is unique. It’s new-gen software.DI’s unique software architecture takes Machine Learning out of the need for continuing human support and updates, into an environment of independent self-learning that continually self-updates - without human intervention. Its Artificial Intelligence deep learning neural network is specifically designed for cybersecurity. Deep Instinct undertakes continual 24/7/365 surveillance for and detection of malware on the web and ‘dark-web’. DI identifies and records existing, previously not recognised and zero-day malware. The central ‘neural brain’ is always current with new/existing/zero-day malware. No human-supported daily updates are required - DI operates a fundamentally different virus’ detection process as a deep learning app.A small footprint 'prediction agent' (26mb) is installed on mobile devices & endpoints & servers & gateway sites (with cloud protection). The ‘prediction agent’ reflects the central ‘neural brain’ register of malware. Upon detection of malware, it responds with a ‘strike-time’ of <20ms (so the malware does not land on disk) and is coupled to an unmatched accuracy of detection of viruses (false positive rate <0.1% of events). Zero-day attacks cannot commence execution.A remarkable ROI is available through DI. Time spent by SOC in managing, investigating and remediating endpoint attacks is significantly reduced. Avoidance of financial losses and cost savings improve the SOC budget.Employee experience is improved leading to more productive operations, reduced staff turnover & improved sales. The SOC budget can be refined, an immediate capability for re-focussing of strategic resources is provided.A Forrester Consulting Report (attached) provides an independent study & calculation of ROI. DI can assure business stability and eliminate cyber-threats at your gateway.DI is available now, hosted by Google in Australia & available for in-house no charge test.

The ActionfromVision process was created over three years (2016 -2019). It is an innovative way to expedite group decision-making that enables all voices to be heard. The process provides for on-line contributions and drives consensus from conversation through encrypted anonymous voting (on-line). All ideas are assessed equally by the group and this brings engagement ('buy-in') of all stakeholders and participants. The outcome is an agreed target list of goals (in ranking order) - the 'steps ahead'. Creating Effective Change
