I was appointed to the Executive Council at the English Language Center, having been selected for my prior achievements and expertise in English language learning. My task was to take on a special project to adapt the Technology-assisted Language Learning (TALL) system for EFL purposes.- In a record time of 8 months, conducted extensive research at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) to understand the existing TALL program and its application to Spanish and Japanese languages.- Collaborated closely with content management teams to grasp the task definitions and software used in the TALL program.- Studied a list of tasks by linguist/researcher Van Eck and used this as a foundation to develop a seven-level instruction plan for General English.- Identified and curated relevant vocabulary, phrases, dialogs, and syntax rules aligned with each level of instruction.- Assembled a team of EFL teachers, trained them in scriptwriting, and devised a compelling soap-opera-style scenario for task-based language learning.- Assigned episodes to the writing team, supervised their work, and ensured that scripts adhered to established timelines and quality standards.- Obtained script-writing software and shared it with the writing team for streamlined collaboration.- Crafted a comprehensive project outline, established timelines and deadlines, and monitored the team's progress.- Edited and refined scripts for accuracy, consistency, and instructional value.- Collaborated with BYU Motion Picture Studio, engaged in auditions, actor selection, and location scouting.- Directed the production process, overseeing language integration and continuity.- Assisted in post-production tasks, recording isolated words and phrases, and selecting suitable music for video segments.- Contributed to the editing process, ensuring the best version of scenes and the seamless integration of videos into the TALL program.
