I love solving challenging problems both big and small. I am not afraid to fail or to ask questions. I also love learning new things. That could be a new programming language or software tool. It could also be a new subject.I am a computational astrophysicist by training, and I have a lot of experience performing numerical models of astrophysical phenomena, particularly in the field of star and planet formation. I am both a developer and a user: I have co-developed parallel fluid dynamics codes with dynamic numerical resolution, magnetic fields, radiation (photon) transport, and particle dynamics, and I am entirely comfortable working on supercomputers.I also have experience working with telescope observations, particularly from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), and recently the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). I am familiar with proposing, analyzing, and interpreting observational data.I know how to write a successful research grant proposal, how to manage projects, give scientific and public outreach presentations, and supervise college students on research projects.Some of my achievements, both inside and outside of work:- I have led successful grant proposals to the National Science Foundation and NASA that financially support myself and students.- I am a primary member of a collaboration which has successfully obtained coveted time on the James Webb Space Telescope and the Atatcama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array.- I trained for and obtained a 1st degree Black Belt in American Freestyle Karate from UpLevel Martial Arts at the age of 40.- I have lived, worked, and successfully navigated life with kids in four different countries.
