Jon Pahl is an educator, historian of American religions, and peacebuilder. “JP,” as he is known to many of his students, received his BA from Valparaiso University, MTS from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Dr. Pahl has authored six books, numerous articles and columns, and has earned a reputation as a dynamic public speaker. He has addressed audiences all over the world, including at Cambridge, Oxford, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale--and in churches, mosques, temples, city halls, backyards, and garages. Jon’s educational design initiatives and Board leadership have provided him the opportunity to work with and learn from diverse individuals and communities on behalf of solving problems: in the environment, homelessness, hunger, family violence, addiction, racism, and gender discrimination. Dr. Pahl has a passion for start-ups and social entrepreneurship—and he has designed, implemented, and monitored three enduring socially-driven educational initiatives to help people flourish. Jon lives with his wife, Lisa, in Clintonville WI, where he enjoys gardening and sitting in on the sax with jazz, gospel, and r and b bands. He has served as Pastor at Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Green Bay since 2018.
