QinetiQ (formally Defence Evaluation Research Agency (DERA)): Technical Manager for Autonomous Airborne Systems within QinetiQ’s Future Systems Technology division researching all aspects of the advanced control, flight management, systems integration, decision support and simulation of aerospace vehicles. Appointed technical manager to direct the technical content of a large programme (c£18M) of UAV applied research, to build appropriate teams, compile winning bids and meet customer expectations in delivery of the programme. Pioneered computer based MSc control examinations leading to a demonstrably greater understanding of theory and practice of control engineering and its applications. Commenced part-time PhD in Supervisory Control with Loughborough University.Feb 88 – Mar 97Flight Commander and Lecturer in electronics. Duties included: consolidation of electronics syllabus following a major re-design, instigation and execution of a training scheme for ab-initio staff members, management of staff tasking timetable and student revue procedures for Royal Air Force’s ground based communications and Radar technicians. Selected for Advanced Pre-Employment Training comprising a year long full time MSc course in aerosystems engineering.
