Over 30 years of editorial experience, covering most aspects of writing and book production. My work as a journalist has mainly been in the automotive field, majoring on classic cars (including driving hundreds of different vehicles, from all eras); my particular area of expertise is the British motor industry, where I have carried out much pioneering research.I have been writing for 'Classic and Sports Car' since 1984, and have contributed to various magazines around the world, sometimes writing in French, and am a sporadic writer of obituaries for national newspapers. Additionally I set up the Haymarket Media Group's automotive photo library, now incorporated into LAT Photographic. Work in book publishing has covered consulting, conception, copy editing and re-writing, and picture research, with Haynes Publishing a long-time client. Although my area of specialist knowledge is the motor industry, I am happy working outside this field, and have for example recently completed an extensive edit of a title on Art Deco.I have also written ten books of my own, collaborating with the designer on look and format; I work closely with an award-winning Toulouse-based graphic designer. Many of the photos in my books are my own or from my own archive.French-to-English translation is another specialism, and one where my combination of linguistic ability, copy-editing skills and technical knowledge has proved invaluable. So far I have translated five books into English.Consultancy work has included some marketing consultancy for a major book publisher, design and marketing advice for an Indian maker of sports cars, and compilation of a report on timber imports for a leading NGO.Additionally I have 20 years of experience as a commentator at classic car events, and am happy to take on such work, whether for specifically car-centred shows or more family-orientated events. I have even been cajoled into commentating on a dog-handling display at one show!
