First foray into commerce at just 9 years old (early 60’s). Lived on a lake, loved fishing. Many fish inedible; had to do something with them. Plant fertilizer? Catch ‘em and sell ‘em – 25¢ each. Heck, I’d even dig the holes for the fish. There was interest (an untapped market)!Day 1 – great success / Day 2 – it was all over! Dogs roamed free in those days and they quickly dug up the fish! Didn’t bother eating them, they loved to roll over the fish creating a mess. How about a dog washing service(!), bad timing my mother thought!Soon a paperboy delivering 155 papers, lawn mowing service, then high school summers in a wholesale building material company. Graduated from a fantastic college prep school Charles Wright Academy, which heightened my self-reliance and work ethic.BS in Science, Mechanical Engineering from WSU. Took as many extra classes as possible, mostly in the Business School. In those days tuition covered the term, not the credit hours (spoiled that perk-sorry).A big thing over summer break then was to paint houses or fish in the Bering Sea; uh-not for me! Turned back to the lakes building floating docks and piers. Work came fast and it gave me pause to consider creating a going concern. Solar energy caught my interest and joined a small construction company after college. Too ahead of its time in 1977, energy was far cheaper then. Recruited to California and Silicon Valley! Joined an IT team at an investment firm and became the application development manager. Created an IT consultancy department for a regional CPA firm and became a practice management expert leading to a new consultancy to many accounting firms on the West coast. In 1987, purchased a service bureau providing data processing on an IBM System 38 which became a software development company known as NetISphere. In the last 20 years we are connectrex, software developers for and experts with community corrections agencies across America and abroad.Will continue creating!
