Retired. Ex-Self employed Research Director at ParaLexica, leading the glossing technologies team for United Bible Societies working in Computational Linguistics. Earlier I worked for the Ministry of Defence as a system software engineer, I am also a Visiting Researcher at Oxford Brookes University and an Associate Lecturer at Sarum College.The opportunity to work with languages from all over the world has given me a fascination for natural language in general. My greatest interest is creating language independent systems which can, with little or no supervision, provide helpful analyses of linguistic structures. Using these systems for the analysis of the vernacular languages of the developing world is a particular fascination. My current research interests include building systems which are able to analyse complex, non-concatenative morphologies in natural language and the development of language independent systems for the unsupervised analysis of syntax structures.In my spare time I publish resources for Church Musicians via the Phoenix Press. Titles so far include Cloud of Witnesses, The Wessex Psalter and The Gibbons Songbook. I also teach Classics (Latin, Greek & Hebrew) in particular New Testament Greek.
