He convinced around 40 classmates to 1) DO a class project that would have meaningful and lasting impact, and 2) Give their free, weekend time to implement the project. Jonathan personally designed a t-shirt to sell, worked with UCM's Licensing dept. to have it approved, raised money through sponsors to pay for the t-shirt, directly managed 4 supervisors underneath him (accounting, event, sponsorship, publicity), and presented the outcomes of the project to the ECHO board and interested entrepreneurs. Jonathan managed, but was also a strong leader; by example, by class vote (he had the title of President), and by working hard to make the project a success. Since he was an Accounting major, I was very impressed with his ability to cross over into the realm of management/leadership and plan, organize, and implement this large project. 'ECHO Ts' gave profits of over $1000 to ECHO, plus 50-60 backpacks full of food were collected. I would HIGHLY recommend Jonathan for a position with a company that needs employees that can see the 'big picture' and are willing to create and implement new products or services.
