Under his leadership, his companies have developed, leased, and managed dominant retail properties throughout the United States. He has led both private and publicly traded entities, and he’s best known for acquiring properties anchored by recognized retailers, optimizing those properties, and generating attractive, risk-adjusted returns for his investors and partners. Wheeler’s current venture, Resurgent Realty Trust (RRT) focuses on acquiring well-occupied grocery-anchored retail shopping centers in quality secondary and suburban+ markets in the United States. The Virginia headquartered REIT expects to acquire 10+ shopping centers per year. Leveraging strong ties to regional and national retailers, the company intends to achieve strong operating results by employing well-seasoned, bottom-up business practices toward underwriting, strategic leasing, and property and asset management. Wheeler was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma into a family that was deeply involved in real estate, oil & gas. He started his first real estate company in 1999 and later successfully branched out into development. In 2012 he founded Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust that trades as (NASDAQ:WHLR). He served as president, CEO, and chairman until 2018. He was most recently co-founder of Pinnacle Real Estate Investment Group (PREIG) that provides development, leasing, property and asset management services.He has been an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and has served on a wide variety of community and philanthropic boards. He has held real estate licenses in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Texas, and the District of Columbia. As avid snow skier, Jon promotes health & fitness personally & in the workplace.
