I’m an Electrical Engineer with 16 years of experience in energy conservation, utility systems, and controls. I’ve worked on everything from behind-the-meter projects to off-grid solutions, distribution upgrades, and now, energy supply planning.Currently, I’m focused on keeping the lights on (affordably and sustainably) for the next 20 years. I work on strategies for generation resources, system planning, and avoided costs, and I’m deep into Integrated Resource Planning (IRP)—think scenario modeling, stakeholder engagement, and making sure we check all the regulatory and stakeholder boxes.Before this, I tackled distribution projects like Microgrids, Energy Storage, Renewable Energy, AMI Metering, and Distribution SCADA. I also led a team that automated AMI work orders and developed some asset management strategies through data analytics.Preivously to NorthWestern Energy, I led a non-profit, focused on resource conservation and business model innovation. As a partner at PowerHouse-ICS, I’ve studied and advanced behind the meter solutions and earned certifications such as ASHRAE Energy Auditing, RESNET Home Energy Rater, Passive House Rater, and an Energy Star Rater.I bring a blend of technical know-how and business sense, thanks to my BA in Electrical Engineering from Montana State and an MBA from the University of Montana. Basically, I like to tackle complex energy problems with practical, sustainable solutions.When I’m not obsessing out over energy and technology solutions, you’ll find me with my wife, Whitney, and our two boys—Finn, the responsible one, and Dean, our little on who keeps me on my toes.
