I develop embedded system software in C for vibration analysis and dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies. Secondary duties include system testing and documentation.

I was responsible for creating and updating product manuals for FLIR's radiation and explosives detector products. Maintained nearly 4,000 pages across multiple languages for the R300, R400, and R500 radiation detectors using a legacy LaTeX-based system that required source-level editing of multiple LaTeX packages. The radiation manuals also required maintaining and updating thousands of lines of perl and python scrips to query and format product data from multiple sources. Reformatted and updated the Operator Manual, Maintenance Manual, and Administrator Manual for the Fido X3 explosives detector using Adobe InDesign. Created the Fido X2 Operator Manual. Utilized SolidWorks Composer to transition from photography-based illustrations to high-quality line-drawing vector illustrations. Updated product data sheets using customized scripts and LaTeX classes and Adobe InDesign.

I was the training lead and Subject Matter Expert for FLIR's integrated surveillance systems for the U.S. Army, U.S. Border Patrol, and foreign customers. Managed in-house and contractor resources to produce training packages, job aids, and other reference documentation. Delivered end-user and Train-the-Trainer instruction to Border Patrol Agents, U.S. Army soldiers, and support personnel on system setup, operation, stow, transport, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Critical systems include Command and Control (C2) software, long-range thermal imagers, ground-surveillance radars, and power/generator subsystems. Worked with software and engineering teams to identify and correct deficiencies in evaluation systems and to optimize systems to meet or exceed government requirements. Developed quality assurance, system calibration, and pre-delivery checklists for production systems.

Led customer training across all divisions in a product-oriented defense and security technology company with more than 800 employees. Position was eliminated after acquisition by FLIR Systems, Inc.

Worked with industry-leading robotics manufacturers (including iRobot and QinetiQ Foster-Miller) to integrate the Fido explosives detector onto robotic systems for stand-off detection of IEDs and other explosive threats. Wrote the Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and simulation software to help robotic manufacturers integrate our sensors. Developed training packages, delivered training to U.S. and foreign customers, and managed training personnel. Developed and implemented product training for sales team.

Lead software developer for desktop and handheld software to interface with the Fido line of explosives detectors during the research, development and government-evaluation cycles. Development work was in C++ and Visual Basic. I worked closely with both the science and engineering teams to provide device control, real-time monitoring and data collection on a rapidly evolving emerging technology. I provided time-critical software updates in the field to respond to emerging feature needs. In addition to my software development role, I also operated the equipment during field tests and helped to develop crucial concepts of operation.

Identified, reproduced and documented software and hardware deficiencies in the company's core products. Wrote and implemented test protocols and maintained test systems. Verified corrective actions, participated in code reviews, conducted regression testing, and signed off on release software. Developed software user manuals and help files. I was also the technical liaison with Orion Research, Inc. (now part of Thermo Scientific) who had an exclusive agreement at the time to brand and sell our products.

Worked in a fast-paced technical support call center to resolve customer issues with installing and configuring add-on peripherals into Windows-based PCs. Developed strong customer management techniques and methodical troubleshooting skills.

Repaired and maintained active oil and gas wells and infrastructure while learning the basics of oilfield production as part of an engineering internship.
