I joined the UGL/Cape JV team once the initial mobilisation was completed and helped fully implement the JV safety management system with the primary focus on Process Safety and the hazards of a live plant, while working closely with the EPCM and Client HSE to embed the one team approach into the workforce safety culture.Role responsibilities: • To support the ongoing development and implementation of project level HSE processes.• To provide HSE solutions and advice to supervisors and workforce.• Conducting proactive monitoring of work sites to ensure procedural compliance, JHA and safe systems of work in accordance with client and company procedures.• To raise safety awareness, culture and performance within the organisation through personal example.Achievements• Maintenance workforce went 250 days completing 350,000 man-hours without a LTI incident.• Managed HSE on nightshift during three outages completing 76,000 man hours with 1 FAI• Developed a dashboard to capture field inspections and highlight trends.• Developed and implemented KPI trend reporting dashboards, that are used on a weekly basis for client meetings and reports.

Working as the national ES&H manager for Frankipile reporting directly to the managing director I was tasked with the goal of unifying and centralising the corporate safety systems to ensure the same standards across Australia.Role responsibilities: • Review of existing company processes and ensure compliance with legislation.• Review of all incident classification and investigations and notify all relevant stakeholders.• Provide ES&H solutions and advice to management, supervisors, foremen, and general workforce.• Ensure early intervention and return to work for injured workers and maintain ongoing proactive case management.Achievements• Centralised and controlled workers compensation and closed all historic claims.• Centralised incident reporting and corrective actions into the parent company system.• Developed standardised Drug and Alcohol procedure to promote Fitness for Work and compliance with legislation and industry best practice.• Consolidated the separate state training records into one national database.

I moved from the field operations team to the role of Senior ES&H Communications and Reporting Advisor responsible for the consolidation of all ES&H reports and data throughout the whole of the Wheatstone project. Managing a team of three I reviewed and analysed the data from the Onslow site, the 3 modular yards in Asia and the functional project offices in Perth and Houston. The reports were distributed within the project, to the client and to Bechtel divisional and global management teams.Role responsibilities: • To deliver timely reports of construction progress against hours and incidents.• To review all incident and inspection data to ensure consistency and quality standards.• To provide trending analysis of inspections and incidents to pinpoint root causes and corrective actions.Achievements• Developed a dashboard to trend field inspections and highlight trends.• Developed a streamlined incident investigation-reporting tool for use by all subcontractors.• Developed an inspection program that focused on the construction schedule ensuring that the correct inspections were carried out on the high-risk activities.• Developed an inspection schedule that incorporated all departments within the ES&H function.

Joining Wheatstone as the senior advisor attached to the John Holland CV scope of works I helped integrate John Holland into the Wheatstone procedures, with key focus around the installation of the 1st 300 bed and the kitchen diner complex. From there I moved out to the LNG plant where I was key focus for the construction of the primary concrete batch plant as well as working closely to mobilise and establish both the piling contractor and the jobsite modular contractor. With the completion of the batch plant I transitioned into the ES&H advisor responsible for all scaffolding and PIF scopes of work.Role responsibilities: • To support the ongoing development and implementation of project level H&S processes.• Provide H&S solutions and advice to area management, supervisors, foreman, and general workforce.• Participate with the development of subcontractor master risk registers – HazID’s.• Review & feedback on subcontractor site procedures for compliance.• Facilitate & review all incident investigations relating to my subcontractors.• Conducting proactive monitoring of work sites, to include procedural compliance, JHA and safe systems of work in accordance with the client and company procedures.Achievements• Recognised by Chevron as part of the construction team who shaped the piling contractor into the most successful subcontractor on Wheatstone which cumulated with them being awarded the Chevron Directors award – the highest award given to a contractor company.• Developed a subcontractor on boarding package to help newly mobilised subcontractors understand reporting requirements and expectations.• Developed and implemented incident reporting dashboards for use in client meetings and reports.• Developed and implemented an inspection planner/tracker for supervisors to monitor KPI performance of their team.• Reviewed and updated the site inspection tool bringing it in line with the procedures as well as developing task/trade specific inspections.

Working as a safety advisor on the Daunia construction mine as the Golding’s works became fully established, I helped develop and implement the safety management system across the site ensuring that all of the clients expectations and requirements were met, this involved building a close working relationship with the Bechtel EH&S department and BMA counterparts.Role responsibilities: • To support the development and implementation of project level H&S processes.• To provide H&S solutions and advice to area management, supervisors, foreman, and general workforce• Carrying out reviews of JHA’s & assist in production where needed.• Conducting proactive monitoring of work sites, to include procedural compliance, JHA and safe systems of work in accordance with the client and company procedures.• Raise safety awareness, culture and performance within all levels of the organization through personal example.• Introduced new inspection and safety observation program for supervision and engineers

I started as an advisor with the safety team working on the $327m Airport Roundabout Upgrade section of the Airport Link Project, looking after the construction of the two new bridges, the demolition of the existing bridge, and the removal of the roundabout to enable it to be replaced with a signalized ‘fast diamond’ intersection. When the safety coordinator left in June 2010 I assumed most of those duties as well as my own and working closely with the remaining advisors was able to maintain our safety performance. As the work faces completed I became the sole point of contact and focus for the project in September 2010. December 2010 saw the bulk of the ARU works complete and I was transferred into the Kedron team at the center of the Airport Link project.Role responsibilities: • To support the implementation of project level H&S processes.• To provide H&S solutions and advice to area management, supervisors, foreman, and general workforce• Review subcontractor company SMS and provide recommendations for improvement.• Carrying out reviews of JSEA’s & assist in production where needed.• Conducting proactive monitoring of work sites, to include procedural compliance, JSEA and safe systems of work in accordance with the current legislation and company procedures.• Raise safety awareness, culture and performance within all levels of the organization through personal example.• Developed and implemented new site induction process• Introduced new excavation inspection regime• Revised hazard reporting process amongst workforce• Developed and delivered in house training packages to personnel of all levels within the organization

Based out of the Queensland state office in Brisbane I spent time in the branch understanding what was required of the workforce and the company expectations. This enabled me to realistically review all and rewrite many of the JSEA’s that were being utilized, adopting the RMD international process of activity based assessments. Utilizing my knowledge of RMD in the UK I was able to review the safety management system and ensure global compliance as well as compliance with both federal and state legislation. This review highlighted localized issues which required training and instruction to the 8 branch managers within the state and helped develop and foster the company safety culture.
