CurrentResponsible for managing the engineering department for Cool Clean Technologies – a spin-off of Chart Industries. Cool Clean is a privately-held technology company with a primary focus on using carbon dioxide to replace hazardous solvents and water in critical cleaning applications. Applications range from extraction plants to automated spray cleaning system in the automotive and electronics industries, as well as systems to replace flooded lubricants in machining applications.- Active in finding and developing new applications for our CO2 cleaning technology and the associated business development necessary to bring these applications to market.- Developed novel cannabis extraction equipment using liquid CO2 as a solvent. Systems can process hundreds of pounds of cannabis per day removing cannabinoids such as CBD and THC from the material without fats and waxes.- Successfully lead the engineering group in developing multiple other new products. These include systems for the cleaning of medical device implants, hard disk drives, optics, automotive paint preparation, decontamination of fire gear and other PPE, dry cleaning of textiles, and many other applications such as extraction of lipids from biofuels and contaminants from silicone.- Developed systems for remote machine diagnostics and the use of AI to analyze large quantities of machine data- Developed and managed external suppliers/fabricators for Cool Clean’s products in India, Taiwan, China and the Czech Republic. This includes developing relationships with the suppliers and working with external engineering groups on new product design and design improvements.- Overall responsibility for maintaining and developing Cool Clean’s intellectual property. This includes strategic partnerships with other organizations and management of technology license agreements with the Battelle Memorial Institute, Raytheon Technologies, and Micell Technologies, as well as the management of more than 60 patents.
