DFM Development Services is a unique consulting business that provides a variety of "Red Tape" related services (Bond Release Management, Permit Management/Expediting, Environmental Compliance, Dry Utility Design & Coordination) to real estate developers, builders, civil engineers, architects, corporations, institutions, general contractors and designers throughout the Greater Metro DC area.

Maintain active real estate licenses in both Virginia and Washington, DC.

Served as the chief executive officer of the 600 member trade association. Primary responsibilities included implementing the priorities and goals set by the Board of Directors and the effective management of all association affairs--including PAC oversight and legislative involvement. Recommend and participate in the formulation of the mission, goals, objectives and related policies within the limits of the by-laws, oversee all staff and association HR activities. Responsible for planning, presenting and managing the annual operating budget, overseeing and improving the quality of programs and services provided to members, in addition to serving as the association’s main point of contact for all internal and external communications.

Responsible for land acquisition and rezoning efforts in the Northern Virginia region. Managed all aspects of rezoning process from land acquisition and land planning to oversight of the development team; including discussions with citizen’s groups and negotiations with local, regional and national governmental authorities required for final approvals.PROFESSIONAL REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS MetroWest – Fairfax County, VAManaged the development team which successfully acquired, rezoned and entitled MetroWest, in Fairfax County. The $200M in-fill redevelopment will transform 56-acres adjacent to the Vienna-Fairfax-GMU metro station into a mixed-use community containing 2248 residential units, 300,000 square feet of office and more than 100,000 square feet of retail. The project received the Smart Growth Recognition award from the Urban Land Institute’s Smart Growth Alliance.Potomac Yard – Alexandria, VACo-managed the development team and entitlements process for the $300M Potomac Yard joint venture in the City of Alexandria. The Brownfield site was formerly the largest railroad switching operation on the East Coast. It contains nearly 1700 residential units, 2 million square feet of office and over 100,000 square feet of retail on 168 acres. The project includes Alexandria’s first new fire station in over 30 years that also incorporated 64 units of affordable housing. The public-private partnership received awards from The National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Managed the senator’s press operations and provided input on the public relations impact of legislative and policy decisions. Promoted the senator’s legislative agenda and accomplishments to local and national media outlets through written press releases, op-eds, TV, radio and online.

Served as aide to Speaker of the House John Mercer for the 1993 and 1995 Legislative Sessions.
