Thanks for looking! I am a behavioral neurologist by training, but stayed in the stroke community, now working as neurohospitalist and previously as medical director of a comprehensive acute stroke program at Multicare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane Washington. Prior to that, I was an academic physician at the University of Toronto Ontario Canada, Scientist at the Kunin-Lunenfeldt Research Unit (affiliated with the Roman Research Institute) at Baycrest Hospital and a stroke neurologist at Sunnybrook Medical Center. I was previously director of the stroke programs at Loma Linda University, California, and prior to that at Braintree Hospital and Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island while assistant professor of Neurology at Boston University following my training and fellowship there. My interests are in stroke and stroke-related cognitive deficits as they inform us about brain function and cognition as well as recovery from stroke. I have been fascinated by psychology and philosophy since high school. My mentor in medical school was Gordon Globus MD, an existential psychoanalyst and Heidegger/Derrida Scholar. In residency and fellowship I studied with Michael P Alexander MD in the "Boston/Geshwind School of Behavioral Neurology" and was fortunate to work with luminaries such as Donald T Stuss PhD, Fergus Craig PhD and others at the Rotman. In addition to my clinical work, I am currently pursuing studies in neuroanthropology, neurotheology and post-structuralism, particularly Derrida and Foucault, Phil Reiff, Dallas Willard, Karl Trueman and others.I bring a mix of data-based, quantitative- and holistic qualitative skills to my work as a physician in order to provide evidence based and holistic values to excellent patient care as well as expanding an understanding of human life and cognition.
