Working with one of my lecturers over the summer, using the programme MATLAB to create graphical 2D models, representing the dispersion of concentrated substances with respect to a time variable. Over the course of this, I deeply expanded both my ability and interest in MATLAB and the potential use for it, as much of the code used in the research overlapped with other areas of physics, such as thermodynamics and statistical modelling.

Working at The Half Moon, Fullers ‘Flagship’ pub Skills achieved: cellar management, barista training and training in the conditioning of real ales. On-demand stepped in as a waiter in the restaurant, which helps improve my customer interaction and people skills. Working in the kitchen during the summer holidays gave me skills in time management in an intense environment with a lot of different things going on at once.

Primary task as kitchen porter encompassed assisting the kitchens needs and being aware of what needs to be done to help, jumping on tasks and covering areas of the kitchen during peak hour to ensure the whole kitchen runs efficiently. The night manager role included receptionist preparation for morning breakfast. In addition to learning kitchen skills and planning, this experience has helped my reliability and ability to multitask with time limits.
