Founded StrawStraws, a business selling biodegradable oat straws to local restaurants.Led three teams of college engineers through the Oregon State University’s MIME Capstone Program to automate straw production with oversight from Prof. Parmigiani (professor of mechanical engineering at OSU).Worked with Dr. Kling, emeritus professor of Crop Science at OSU to find the ideal oat variety for straw production.Contracted a local farmer to plant and harvest half an acre of oat plants.Created a working prototype for a straw production machine, but pulled the plug due to a lack of the funding and personal experience necessary to move forward to mass production.
