I have done my best throughout my career and life to be a support centred individual who values honesty, integrity, and equity. I have been very fortunate in my life to have grown up in an accepting place where I could openly be who I am (a proud gay man with a chronic illness) without significant barriers. I acknowledge that I live on, and benefit from, the land as a settler and recognize the privileges that have been afforded to me. I want to extend that atmosphere of freedom and security to everyone I meet and help them live the life they want to live. I am going to do this by:- Supporting my team members in their duties when possible so that we all can succeed. - Maintaining a positive and friendly environment for staff and clients alike.- Actively seeking opportunities to improve accessibility in the work environment.- Developing inclusion initiatives that do not just acknowledge diversity, but celebrate and support it.- Continuously learning about people and topics in order to be able to break down barriers. - Honestly evaluating current situations and developing next steps to improve EDI in the workplace. - Performing community outreach to promote inclusion and accessibility.
