Hello, I'm Jonah Fuhrman, a senior at the University of Minnesota pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering while concurrently enrolled in an accelerated Master's program, specializing in product design and business development. My academic journey is driven by an unwavering passion for innovation and technology that will change the world. I'm fascinated by mechatronic products and robotics, and I'm always looking for opportunities to blend mechanical engineering with cutting-edge technology. During my academic career, I've had the privilege to contribute to groundbreaking research projects. In the first, I was a part of the Mu2e project—a particle physics experiment that sought to validate the existence of electrons from muons. My role involved building and meticulously testing electron-detecting panels. This experience honed my attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a complex scientific environment. In my second research endeavor, I joined the Fluid Power Lab within the Mechanical Engineering Department. Here, we're pushing the boundaries of hydraulic systems to enhance the fuel efficiency of skid steers by a remarkable 40-60%. Furthermore, we're pioneering the transformation of the internal combustion system into an all electric one. It has been an exhilarating endeavor that bridges engineering with sustainability, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
