I serve as the COO at MeetYourClass, a social networking platform revolutionizing the way college students meet. I co-founded MeetYourClass during my freshman year at the University of Michigan, initially for the sake of marketing a caffeinated beverage one of my co-founders and I formulated.Our focus quickly shifted, though. Within two years of launching the company, MeetYourClass was backed by Techstars and helped 350,000+ students across 1,000+ campuses. We also launched three partnerships with university enrollment departments to test our platform's effect on yield, melt, and retention rates, among a myriad of other metrics.Enrollment rates are declining across the higher education space. Although many factors are at play (a demographic cliff, online learning trends, limited state funding, etc.), we believe the most actionable way for administrators to maintain enrollment is to foster stronger communities on campus. To achieve this in an authentic, Gen-Z friendly way, it is paramount that universities engage students on the digital platforms they already use.
