Built a revolutionary all-in-one device that could connects sensors, machines, and energy meters to the Internet through an LTE connection. This allowed energy experts to monitor electricity, natural gas, and water consumption at Commercial/Industrial/Ag facilities. An OEM version enabled manufacturers to monitor and remotely control their equipment.I raised angel investment and oversaw all R&D, sales, marketing, and operations until the sale of the company to Ventacity Systems.

I launched Streamzap by inventing, designing and patenting a handheld remote control for computers, to allow control of music & video playback without having to use the keyboard and mouse. I raised angel investment and took the product from concept to nationwide launch (software, firmware, ID, mechanical, graphic design, website, e-commerce, sales, marketing, PR).The "PC Remote" gained entry to major US bricks-and-mortar retailers like Fry's Electronics and CompUSA, as well as most major online retailers (Amazon, Buy.com, etc) in the US and worldwide. It was featured nationally in PC Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Parade Magazine, and CBS News.It's still used widely today, such as to control interactive TVs in the box seats at Madison Square Garden, Levi's Stadium, and at the Olympics on computer systems that analyze athlete performance.Streamzap also designed and delivered dozens of electronics and software products (consumer, industrial, aeronautical) for major corporations worldwide, including Leviton, Harris Corp, Tempur-Pedic, Subway, and Zodiac.

I worked on a robotic replica of an 8ft-long yellowfin tuna that was built in order to investigate the amazing efficiency of biological fish-like propulsion. Research included real-time operating systems, linear and non-linear control theory, high-precision sensor instrumentation, and a sophisticated software stack that allowed the robot to swim completely autonomously. I was also heavily involved in field testing, including a memorable dive in a testing tank with Alan Alda to showcase the robot for Scientific American Frontiers on PBS.For my Masters thesis under Jean-Jaques Slotine (MIT, world expert in Nonlinear Control Theory), I implemented force-feedback control of the hydraulic valves that drove the tail of the robot. This allowed us to simulate the presence of a mechanical spring whose force constant we could dynamically program, in order to investigate the biological benefits of spring-like motion.

I worked under Rod Brooks (Director of AI Lab, co-founder of iRobot) on a humanoid robot called COG. As a freshman, I redesigned and manufactured the motor control circuits that became the standard controller for most of COG's motors. I then designed and implemented control algorithms to simulate the Vistibulo-Occular Reflex for COG, which mimics a human's ability to use inner-ear motion as feedback in order to stabilize vision during rapid head motion. COG can be seen today at the MIT Museum.
