Hired by former Udemy ($UDMY) cofounder as one of the two first business hires at Maven. Throughout my time at Maven, I led various growth-oriented initiatives. In my first 6 months, I partnered with the founding engineer to develop Maven's initial product experience. Also in charge of the VIP users (representing 80% of revenue), I shaped the supply-side experience from onboarding to activation to retention. With a supply-side team in place, I pivoted my focus to demand-side, attracting students to the marketplace through various growth experiments. With the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, I developed a content marketing strategy that resulted in a 0->30k organic visits per month.

Recruited to Shopify's early growth team. At Shopify, I identified an opportunity to improve lead quality and lower support debt. I tested my hypothesis by writing, recording, and launching ecommerce courses for new entrepreneurs. My project organically attracted 500 users in 1 week earning budget to scale. Over the next four years, Shopify Academy grew to a team of 45 engineers, designers, and creatives reaching over 1,000,000 students. We also effectively pivoted from professional to home studio productions through the pandemic. I collaborated with our VP, Product to develop the web and mobile learning experience as well as the custom LMS. I personally led strategy, content, and creative including 2500 hours of scripted programming.Key results of the initiative included: • 96% increase in lead-to-customer conversion rate• Lowest customer acquisition cost (CAC) marketing program at Shopify• 4.5% increase in 90-day customer retention ($2m+ added revenue per month)• 200% increase in customer GMV

Developed and explored a hypothesis tapping into the multi-billion dollar passive candidate market. Along with two technical co-founders, our platform let working professionals confidentially express interest in joining another company. We failed to gain traction on the employee side despite interest from employers. Learned a lot.

Second business hire and a member of the senior leadership team. During this time, I grew the bootstrapped company from $150k ARR to profitability at $10m ARR. In my role as Head of Growth, I established the company's positioning, developed and led the global partnership program, led an interdisciplinary marketing team, and opened the Berlin office.

Identified, then negotiated and signed a distribution deal with the film, CURFEW, which went on to win the Academy Award for Short Film - Live Action in 2012.
