As a World Rugby licensed Coach Educator, I facilitate coaching certification courses for USA Rugby (levels 200 and 300) across the U.S. The courses focus on ensuring participants are prepared to coach all aspects of the game safely, while also providing opportunities to develop coaching skills. Some of the modules include outcome-based planning, utilizing questions to guide learning (not “telling”), and using key factors to guide instruction.

I was selected to participate in the Elite Coach Development Program for the USA Rugby Women’s National Team (15s) in 2015. After reaching the level of "Performing Coach" in the program I coached at each National All-Star Competition (NASC) leading up to the 2017 World Cup. During the assemblies I mostly served as Head Coach (in three-person coaching groups) of one of the teams competing, generally specializing in Attack or Contact. My task was to create effective structures that could be implemented in the short timeline required by a 7-day assembly while providing opportunities for players to express themselves on the field.

Guatemala City, Guatemala

In January 2019 I began consulting with Guatemala Rugby to improve the coaching of their domestic clubs. After a few months I was offered the position of Head Coach of the Guatemalan men’s, women’s, and U19 boys programs, 7s and 15s. I was given the additional task of selecting and training assistant coaches for each program who will eventually become the head coaches to replace me. We also implemented a program for domestic club coaches to develop effective attack and defensive structures, game plans, and strategies, while identifying the skills necessary to execute these effectively. We built a high performance program/culture, including video/match analysis, key performance indicators, player identification/selection, and managing physical loading on athletes.

The Denver Highlanders are a Division II men's rugby club in Denver, CO. Having played for the Highlanders, I was asked to come back and coach the team, tasked with developing their game plans and structure and improve player skills in order to implement those structures effectively.

Glendale, Co

I was the Attack and Backs Coach for the Glendale Raptors/Merlins team of the Women's Premier League (finishing 2nd in U.S. both years after back-to-back championships in 2014/2015). Additionally, I was the Head Coach of the newly-formed Division I team in the Spring of 2017. I coached the 7s team (under a different name) during 2016-17, incorporating players from Glendale and other teams, advancing to the National Tournament each year.

The Black Ice are a women’s Division I club rugby program in Denver, ranked 3rd in the U.S. during that time. I was responsible for all coaching activities, including practice planning for the concurrent development of experienced and beginning players, match preparation, and player selection.

As Executive Director of Rugby Colorado (RCO), I am ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations and execution of the strategic objectives, programs, and policies of the state governing body for youth and high school rugby, as determined by the Board of Directors.This includes:- Development and management of systems (financial, HR, etc.)- Recruitment, training and recognition of employees and volunteers- Build and strengthen relationships with teams, coaches, players and other admin, as well as with partner organizations and professional peers- Manage new and ongoing fundraising opportunities- Media relations, publicity, presentations, and other outreach

As the Youth Development Officer it is my responsibility to grow youth and high school rugby in the state of Colorado. This includes assisting current clubs recruit and retain players, supporting new clubs, facilitate coaches trainings, and develop new programs in schools, community organizations, and out-of-school time providers to provide as many opportunities for kids to play rugby as possible.

I directed the Sustainability Operations and Initiatives of an international jewelry manufacturer with U.S. campuses in California, New York, and Arkansas, and a production facility in Bangkok. I developed the Sustainability Programs (environmental and social) for each campus, which include the management of our resource use, tracking monthly sustainability metrics, setting goals for performance and improvement, and developing action plans to reach those goals. We are a leading jewelry supplier to Wal-Mart, which has aggressive sustainability requirements for its suppliers. We are currently one of only 3 suppliers with the highest score on Wal-mart’s Sustainable Supplier Scorecard and the only Wal-Mart supplier facility in Thailand to receive the highest Ethical Standards rating (Social Sustainability and Responsibility) during our annual factory audit in January, 2013.

The HSU women’s rugby program competes in Div II (previously Div 1) collegiate competition. I was responsible for player development, fundraising and budget management, recruiting, public/university relations, website/media, scheduling, and travel. We consistently participant in regional playoffs with occasional appearances in the Sweet 16 in one of the strongest leagues in the country, against much larger and better funded opposition.I held the position from 2001 to 2004 and again from 2009 to 2013. I was an Asst Coach from 1997 to 2001.

I directed the Environmental Department of a Native American tribal reservation. The department included four full-time employees and $1.45 million in grant-funded projects, including the environmental cleanup and restoration of Tuluwat, a contaminated sacred site. I developed and implemented tribal programs and projects including the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Composting Program, Tribal Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Plan, water and wastewater system upgrades, Emergency Operations Plan, environmental education, pre-disaster mitigation plan, and the Green Building and Alternatives to Toxics Program. I was Project Manager of the Tuluwat Restoration Project, consisting of the cultural restoration and environmental cleanup of a contaminated, former boat yard facility on a historic tribal village site. Completed all environmental and regulatory permits from the California Coastal Commission, Army Corps, Regional Water Board, City of Eureka, and many others. Represented the Tribe on many committees and working groups: Humboldt Bay Ecosystem Project; Humboldt Bay Dioxin Workgroup; Humboldt Bay Harbor Safety Committee, Humboldt Bay Arcata to Eureka Trail, Humboldt Bay Spartina Eradication Project, planning the Humboldt Bay Estuary Institute, and many others.

Assisted course instructor, Dr. Robert A. Gearheart, with the teaching of the graduate-level course, Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment. Responsible for setting up and running the laboratory sessions and facilitating the lectures when Dr. Gearheart was unavailable. Assisted with technological issues (computer software, projectors, etc.) for presentations as well as setting up and maintaining the course’s online component.

Authored a report on the water and energy use of the City of Fortuna, Calif., along with suggested changes, with the goal of improving the energy efficiency of city operations, including water and wastewater treatment, building energy, vehicle fleet, employee commute and solid waste. Conducted a greenhouse gas emissions inventory from city operations and analyzed the energy and cost savings from recent wastewater facility upgrades along with projected performance.

Responsible for various support activities related to community outreach and education on energy efficiency, conservation, and sustainability. Developed the technology pages for RCEA’s web site on subjects such as solar hot water and PV systems, heating, lighting, general energy use and phantom loads. Also responsible for the design, writing, and submission of all radio and print advertising and press releases to local media outlets.

Worked with the Alliance to Save Energy's Green Campus Program at Humboldt State University to conduct an energy competition among the residents of the University’s Redwood Manor dorms. Collected current and historical energy use data and analyzed all current usage data for comparison. Calculated energy use, energy savings, and greenhouse gas emissions, among other statistics, over time. Conducted energy audits inside individual dorms along with community education sessions for all residents. Presented awards for lowest overall usage and largest decrease.
