Hi! Im Jonan, a driven and adaptable graduate from Republic Polytechnic dedicated to developing the performance ability and holistic well-being of athletes within the dynamic landscape of the sporting industry. I am deeply passionate about the development of personal health and elite sport in Singapore, and I hope to excel as either a Strength Conditioning Specialist or a Sports Physiotherapist within the industry. Currently, I am working with the Lifeskills physiotherapy consultancy as a freelance athletic trainer and therapy assistant.A committed athlete, my own journey for sporting excellence did not come without setbacks, as lack of education about injury prevention and rehabilitation from coaches led to multiple injuries, and as such poorer functional strength and movement mechanics. Seeking to come back from these injuries, this instilled a deep desire to understand the various physiological responses of the body in adapting to training and rehabilitation, and how to plan exercises that optimised these adaptations. My time as a Sports and Exercise Science student further deepened this passion, and I have learned much about the body's innate ability to adapt and heal, as well as various fundamental aspects of training and rehabilitation. It also showed me the role of psychology and nutrition in training and overall health, Strengthening my belief in the need for early progressive physical development as well as holistic rehabilitation and injury prevention in promoting sporting longevity and enhancing performance.Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music, thrifting for unique clothing finds, and drinking coffee with friends and family. I am also a current athlete, playing floorball for Merahan Knights, a local club playing in the Singapore Floorball Men's Premier League. On the side, I volunteer at the Special Olympics as a Floorball coach, as well as coach various primary and secondary schools to help develop the Floorball scene in SingaporeI believe that Sports in Singapore has much room to grow especially in the area of Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, and I strive to grow in knowledge and understanding of the body, performance, and rehabilitation, in order to become a better trainer and coach. I hope to use the knowledge I have learnt to give back to the community and other up and coming athletes who have gone through similar journeys. For now, I am currently taking a gap year to gain more experience in the industry and further discover myself, and will continue pursuing a degree in physiotherapy overseas in 2025.
