Project coordination and technical lead for the development and modernization of components, control units, HMI and development processes.

Responsible for the development of innovative concepts for model-based control and calibration of diesel engines. Main activities comprise(d)- development and implementation of an engine-modelling library, including an automatic model-parameter calibration framework;- application of the resulting engine models on Hardware-in-the-Loop systems;- development of a library to model engine-control systems for virtual and rapid prototyping;- development of a toolbox for static and dynamic model-based calibration of existing controller structures, including custom solvers for the resulting constrained nonlinear-least squares problems;- conception, implementation and experimental validation of model-based calibration procedures (air-path control, emission models, thermal management, etc.);- development of a framework for numerical optimal control;- conception and development of entirely model-based controllers (nonlinear MPC for air-path control, online-optimisation for combustion control).The main tools applied comprise automatic code generation or direct C/C++ coding for fast execution, and Matlab/Simulink for physical/mathematical modelling, data handling and visualisation.
