Baer-Hoffmann is leading FIFPRO’s Head Quarters of 40 staff, driving forward FIFPRO’s strategy to support its 60+ national member players associations and representing global interests of their member players. This includes implementing systemic improvements for players through collective actions and negotiations with FIFA, confederations, leagues, clubs and governments. During the past years, FIFPRO amongst others led a campaign and negotiation for equal conditions, increased prize money and direct player compensation worth appr. 50 million dollars for Women's World Cup players, commenced the construction of a collective player data management and commercialization platform, negotiated various improvements to global employment rules with FIFA and professional football leagues and broadened its NIL group licensing programs. Baer-Hoffmann simultaneously occupies the position of First Vice-President of the World Players Association – the leading union voice of all global professional athletes across different sports from more than 100 national associations. In this role, Baer-Hoffmann works alongside the EDs of the major US league player associations (NBPA, NFLPA, MLBPA, NHLPA), as well as the representative global player organisations in other sports including rugby and cricket. In his professional career, immersed in the player union industry, Baer-Hoffmann is deeply passionate about the protection of an individual’s occupational rights and improving workplace welfare for athletes. He has driven an ambitious innovation, diversity and professionalization strategy at FIFPRO, which he joined in 2012 as a Policy Officer aged 24 and filled several senior positions before being appointed General Secretary in 2020 by the FIFPRO board. Prior to his FIFPRO career, Baer-Hoffmann established the Brussels offices for FIFPRO and EU Athletes, the representative European umbrella organisation for professional team sport unions. He commenced his professional life as an academy level basketball player in his native Germany before co-founding and leading the first-ever German basketball players union, SP.IN.
