Jonas wrote a master thesis on autonomous driving, where he applied deep end-to-end learning to enable a car to drive in urban areas. The research was done using Carla, a simulator made for autonomous driving research.The goal for the project was parted in two, were the first part was to enable the car to drive autonomously, and the second part was to make a comparison between three deep learning architectures. Jonas worked with spatial and sequential data in large quantities, and the project included tasks like gathering training data, preprocessing, training models, setting up a testing environment and testing the trained models.Jonas worked with the following technologies throughout the project: Ubuntu, Python, Keras, Open-CV, Scikit-learn and pandas.

Jonas Dammen was employed as a summer intern at Equinor from 12.06.2018 to 31.08.2018.During his internship, Jonas worked on Equinor blockchain initiatives in the Software Innovation department. Together with colleagues from Corporate Strategy and Innovation, he worked on as a business developer and blockchain software developer on several different business cases: The Energy Web Origin consortium for tracking renewable energy; Tracking Approval for Expenditures across well partners for Equinor in the US; and Joint Interest Billing between different partners in the US oil and gas business.Jonas also participated as a team member in one of the blockchain proposals for the Equinor innovative lntrapreneurship Program in London, where his team was selected as one of five to go through to next phase in the competition. Throughout his internship, Jonas travelled to Frankfurt/Mittweida (Germany), London (UK) and Houston (US) to meet end users, blockchain experts and internal subject matter experts on topics related to the business case developments.His blockchain prototype development was mostly done using JavaScript (Node, React), Solidity (for Ethereum smart contracts), Truffle and MetaMask (for simulating the Ethereum environment).

In the fall of 2017 Statoil initiated a project with four university students in Norway throughThe Innovation Effect learning and innovation program. The goal of the project was todemystify blockchain technology and identify possible application areas for this technology inStatoil’s value chain.Based on the hypothesis developed by the students, Statoil requested a new projectstarting in 2018. The project was divided into two project phases; market research and pilot development. Jonas, together with a fellow student was mainly responsible for developing a pilot that would test the hypothesis and verify if it was a potential solution for equinor. As a part of this work, they tested different types of blockchain technologies, made a recommendation for choice of technology and implemented a MVP(Minimal Viable product).

Jonas Dammen has been a project member in the project; "Blockchain: The Future of Energy"through The Innovation Effects learning and innovation program Skills2Grow from 29.08.17-18.10.17.The project is a collaboration between Statoil ASA and The Innovation Effect AS. The purposeof the program is to give the students access to relevant experience in his/her field, whileStatoil ASA has access to a dedicated group of students to help solve their challenge.Jonas and his team’s assignment, was to plan the project and gather insight through externalresearch. Based on the results from the research the team was tasked with developing astrategy for how Statoil could implement blockchain technology in their value chain andthereby become more sustainable. As a part of their delivery the team also developed a"Blockchain for Dummies” video illustration, and presented their results at Oslo InnovationWeek 2017. They completed the project by delivering a final report and presentation forStatoil's leadership team.
