Jonas Hedberg was born 1949 in Perstorp, Skåne, Sweden.After high school (1967 Baccalaurate) he served 2 yrs in the Swedish military service (armoured forces) discharged with Lieutenants degree. He then worked as lumberjack on the estate of Gustafsborgs Säteri in Skåne for 2 yrs.In 1973 he moved to Canada to persue a Bachelor in Forestry in Fredricton, New Brunswick. Working on a double major, Forestry and Wildlife Management, he graduated in 1977 with a grant from Natural Resources Council (NRC) of Canada and awarded the Lieutenant Governor Silver Medal of New Brunswick for outstanding scholarship.He spent one year at University of Uppsala, Sweden, studying Wildlife Ecology. Jonas then moved to Maine, USA, to embarque on a Masters program. Project was to analyse the habitat requirements of Spruce Grouse and the possible impact of forest cutting activities. He also teached classes at University of Maine, Orono.Back to Sweden he started ForestMan AB in 1982. The mission was to develop software for Forest Planning and Management. Realising the importance of close collaboration with contemporary research in in areas of natural resources he has kept continuous contact with people at universities of Sweden.
