I gathered public funding, I teached undergraduates and I supervised thesis workers and doctoral students. I put great emphasis on the mentoring part of the job in making sure the PhD students felt acknowledged and not alone in their task, supporting them in both formulating reseach questions and hypothesis but also in making sure they did not need to bother about funding etc. I still follow this approach as I have seen that it is effective.I approached research divisions and initiated cross domain collaboration with them. I took charge of the industrial connections in making sure that we communicated the strengths of FluMeS appropriately. I developed the project course concept such that it included clear specifications from industry and I was successful in gathering public funding and commitment from industry for both PhD projects and student projects.
