My professional expertise is in embedded software, machine learning and pattern recognition. My daily work requires mathematical competence, a sharp analytic mind as well as good software engineering skills. I have practiced these skills during the 20 years of development of our handwriting recognition software for embedded systems.Since I have always been in a quite small team, my role has typically been quite broad. It has contained elements of not only research, design, test and implementation, but also project management, and technical sales support. Even if I have worked at the same workplace for many years, I have been through two acquisitions and one spin-off which have given me experience from very different environments and has taken me from being a part of a small Swedish startup, Decuma, to being a part of a big American and international company, Nuance, and recently the spin-off, Cerence. During this time the field of pattern recognition has also developed from classical machine learning towards deep neural networks.At the University of Lund I was a top student, especially strong at mathematics. I still like to learn new things. In my professional role this shows from my interest to keep up with the community and learn about existing tools, frameworks and technologies, instead of just relying on my old knowledge and skills. As a software engineer I value structured, stable, durable and readable code, and prefer a test-driven agile process, and continuous delivery.During 2008 to 2011, as a side project, I grew an interest in biology and genetics and studied a few courses at the University of Lund. I realized my skills in computing, and pattern recognition are also very useful in biology and medicine, and it would be inspiring if at some point I could contribute to medicine research.
