R&D for a handwriting recognition software for the automotive market. My focus is on development and project management. The product is a software core written in C with small footprint and optimized speed to work for many embedded systems. I also spend much time with surrounding tools for test, demo, research and more implemented in C++, Python, Perl and Matlab. I use git and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket) for source control and sprint management. Tensorflow (python) for training deep neural networks.I work in collaboration with the linguistics and text input teams in Seattle and my colleagues in Beijing and Aachen (Germany). We have an agile approach and strive for continuous testing and releasing frequently.Cerence was a spun off from Nuance and has a focus on the automotive market. The spin-off took place in 2019.

My primary tasks were implementation and research of the handwriting recognition core. At this point we started to include dictionaries to assist in the pattern recognition process. The core written in C, but we also had to build some demo integration on various platforms and various languages. During this time I was also working part time as a Technical Sales Support joining my colleagues to visit international customers.Decuma, my employer until Jan 2005, was then acquired by Zi Corp, and we became a part of a bigger Calgary based company whose main product was a smart soft keyboard.

As a prominent mathematical student I was head hunted to this company that had just been started by three professors from the Mathematical Institution of Lund University. The product to be developed was a handwriting recognition software based on some new mathematical findings.My job as a software engineer was to implement the system which was prototyped in Matlab and help to make it a successful product with strict requirements on memory, speed and recognition rate. It should of course also have a user friendly and appropriate API, maintainable source code, good test coverage and the rest that is expected from a professional engineering work. The technical skills I developed over these years were above all in C and Matlab programming, but we also did some advanced Windows and WindowsCE integration in collaboration with the user experience group, which gave me an insight in the the usability perspective as well as the Windows APIs.
