In my role as a Data Lab Engineer, I am responsible for the sourcing, extraction and transformation of data for the Data Scientists to understand and exploit business opportunities. Whilst in this role, I was asked to join the first 'data engineering and industrialisation' POD, a project working to deliver greater visibility of our mortgage pipeline to our new Big Data platform. I am currently working on industrialisation by following the ETL development cycle and using Hadoop and Hive. Due to my experience with NBS data and personal skills, I was selected to build a prototype as a proof of concept for net margins whilst sharing my knowledge and supporting external consultants. I was largely instrumental in the successful deliveries of the pod by performing a cross-functional role.

As part of the Data & Analytics Community, I provided robust and accurate data to our teams that rely on our SAS data warehouse for reporting, analytical and operational uses. In addition, I completed successfully multiple regulatory change requests, IFRS9 and rebuilt several legacy processes in SAS EG and SAS Data Integration Studio.

I completed multiple SAS training courses successfully and became a technical specialist in SAS. I was managing and supporting ad hoc business requests that are aligned to improve customer experience. Also, I provided insight and supplied a detailed, yet easily digestible commentary to the senior management team by using data that helps to identify arising risk impacts.

Within the first few months, I became a specialist in the new tool – IBM SPSS. Also, I was a part of a successful team looking after the provision of Management Information for all of Distribution Retail Channels. Due to exceptional performance of my technical ability and stakeholder management skills in role, I was recognised and I received an internal promotion after 6 months.
