As a Sourcing Manager for private brands I am responsible for a team of three direct reports engaged in the sourcing of center store items for a total value of +$350 million in categories including beverage, wine, frozen, edible grocery, etc.

Responsible for all business processes relating to importing wine to the U.S. from foreign and domestic suppliers for all 6 brands of Ahold Delhaze USA. Partnering with Category teams (U.S. & Europe) to identify assortment gaps and ongoing assortment analysis and updates, supplier/wholesaler/importer identification and negotiation, item tracking and analysis. The position requires process analysis and presenting results to leadership of the different Brands.

Head of the wine buying department within Delhaize Belgium reporting to the Vice President Drinks & Non-food. In charge of a cross-functional team with 3 direct reports and 14 indirect reports (horizontal structure) and responsible of the P&L of the category by:- Horizontally coordinating people from finance, marketing, retail, logistics, production and quality in order to reach the company strategy commercial objectives (skills: cross-departmental collaboration, conflict management, change management, strategy development).- Leading direct reports through the operational day-to-day business. (skills: team leadership, end-to-end execution, efficiency)Periodic reporting to top management, driving of category and retail innovations, and monitoring of KPIs and commercial goals.

Being born and bred in a family of wine merchants, I became quickly interested in wine myself. Thanks to the experience gained in the family business, I launched the Belgian Wines project in 2007 with the mission to promote and sell Belgian-produced wines on the internet. Since then, Belgian Wines has become the largest distributor of locally produced wines and engaged in a range of important promotional activities, such as the organization of wine fairs, exhibitions and tastings.

Working on the development of the 2015-2018 Strategy Plan of the Wine in Moderation Aisbl and supporting the implementation of the 2015 Action Plan. The focus is particularly in the following subjects: self-regulation, communication, strategy, partnerships, and education.

At the University of Antwerp I worked as junior researcher on a four-year research project on Effective Governance in Private Organizations funded by the Flemish Agency for Innovation, Science and Technology (IWT).I did my doctoral dissertation on board of directors of Belgian non-listed enterprises. My research focused on the composition and working of these boards. More specifically I studied the relationship between director characteristics and board processes on board-level outcomes and firm performance.Apart from the academic output we maintained contacts with the project’s user group (consisting of the representatives of the regulators, employers’ associations and policy makers) in order to communicate our scientific results to policy makers and society.
