My main task as a product development engineer was to optimize safety components with respect to low weight, low price and high safety ranking. My responisibilities included developing the product from a first idea until the start of production. I had a wide role working closely both with staff internally world-wide and with staff at automotive companies from Europe, Asia, Middle East, North America and South America. Project lead responsibilities:- Technical project lead of the product through the APQP workflow- Independently pursue innovation projects- Actively participate in the department's long-term improvement- Maintain good contacts both within and outside Gestamp- Mentoring of new employees- Coordination of product developers in larger projectsDesign responsibilities:- Perform the design, mainly in Catia V5- Choose production techniques and materials - Ensure that the product fulfills the specification provided by the OEM- Actively attend physical crash tests, study correlation and react to possible deviations- Perform crash test CAE work in LS-Dyna / Pam-crash / HyperMesh / Ansa- Analyze the results via Ls-Prepost / Visual viewerMy work at Gestamp led to: - An international patented product and more ideas as potential patents of the future. - Gestamp were selected as preferred supplier to GM during my lead of bumper development for that customer. - A dozen bumper systems developed and deployed as sole designer or part of a team for customers such as GM, Land Rover, Ford, VW, Porsche etc.

I got the oppurtunity to use my theoretical education to propose ideas how to improve logistics, industrial engineering and workplace design.
