I am currently working at Leica Biosystems as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the manufacturing department. My main areas of work are problem solving quality issues in manufacturing as well as continuous improvement by delivering projects in the engineering change process.I’ve managed concept designs for a facelift of Leica’s top selling advanced staining instrument, the BOND-III. I had to constrain designs to fit within current tooling envelopes to maximise value and integrate new systems in an existing design, using NX and solidworks.Other tasks include designing jigs and fixtures, managing supplier quality issues and engineering change management to improve instrument quality and vave savings.

I worked at Futuris as a senior design engineer to deliver the Tesla Model X program. My day to day activities were mostly the design and delivery of injection moulded structural parts, but also assembly management, packaging of black box items as well as assuring compliance with legal and other design requirements.I also assisted and tutored more junior team members, managed data transfers to the customer as well as setting up GD&T strategies for both part drawings as well as assembly level.

At Metronom pacific, my main duties were the design of high tolerance fixtures and gauges for dimensional verification. The main customers were high tech industry partners like Hella, Toyota and Ford whom require high quality and tight tolerances in their production parts. Along with the design of the fixtures, setting up BOM's and engaging procurement and fabrication of designed parts. I also did final assembly of jigs and fixtures and assisted in calibration and final delivery.Other day to day activities included assisting in customer quotations, 3D scanning using CreaForms innovative scanners as well as general design work.The role required a high level of understanding of GD&T including tolerance stacks in assemblies which I honed during my time at Metronom.

Hella Australia needed a senior design engineer to help finalise the design of the model year 2014 Toyota Camry head light. During my time there, I designed the headlight lens as well as the headlight bezel.The work was carried out in Catia v5 and required very advanced surface modelling techniques.

At bombardier, I worked for the assembly line manager and helped set up the production line with assembly assists, rigs, fixtures and assembly tools for the Adelaide A-City 4000 train project of 22 trains.The work involved budgeting each project, designing parts and structures in 3D CAD and doing drafting. On the back end of the design process, I nominated manufacturers and managed the quotation process as well as the on-site equipment installations and certifications.I also organised meetings with the manufacturing staff where they could voice their opinions on what type of equipment or tools they needed to do their job quicker and safer as well as using FMEA's to nominate priority of nominated tasks.

Worked for Deakin University and Futuris in a joint venture hosted by AutoCRC to industrialize a patented composite technology.The work involved design of experiment in redesigning an existing load-bearing steel frame in a seating application using a 3D knitted kevlar mesh composite. The work involved project management, CAD design and drafting, designing tools and test rigs for approved prototype designs as well as working in the lab making the prototypes and then testing them to automotive regulation specifications.The project group successfully delivered several prototypes that met the target of 50% weight reduction while maintaining similar strength as the existing steel framework.

Also managing suppliers from India, Japan and China and the integration of system parts in a new global light truck platform which is now on the road in the shape of the Ford Ranger and the Mazda BT-50.

My main responsibilities was to design a seat back frame with fitting pads and trim that could be bolted on to current structures for physical testing.The short term project involved CAE testing and analysis as well as designing in Catia 5, Solid Works and report writing.

I worked on a project to deliver a seating program to a Chinese customer, Chery. Daily tasks involved design tasks as well as report writing and communicating with customer team overseas.I was responsible to package of seating products in the customers environment. Weekly package checks and report writing and documentation where a major part of the project.I also had responsibility to arrange and lead engineering meetings to resolve issues.Worked as liaison between styling and engineering departments and carried out CAD work to realise the styling.Worked as a design engineer on a range of parts in the product including frames, plastic parts, levers, wire harness routing, integrated electronics and attachments.

During 2007 and parts of 2008, I worked in Futuris' business acquisition team, supporting the quotation process with my capabilities as a Design Engineer.My main tasks was to verify and evaluate CAD packages sent to Futuris for quotation and come up with cost effective design solutions and improvements and deliver estimated BOM's to the business team, CAD models for the CAE team for analysis and presentations for technical reviews with the OEM.The quotation process was a very intense when it happened, however there was a fair amount of downtime in between quotations. During these periods, I was responsible for carrying out design work for the joint research and development projects between Futuris Automotive and the Auto CRC.Over the course of the project, I had supported the quotation process for several major OEM's, including GM America, SAIC, Chery, GM Thailand among others.

Worked at Futuris Automotive as a Design Engineer on the Chery M11 project. Chery is a Chinese OEM in Chinas exploding automotive industry and Futuris was the nominated supplier for the seats and interior trim.I worked on the rear seats as a Design Engineer. The seat had fold flat functionality and built in armrest which I was responsible for developing. Project was carried out and delivered successfully to the production team in Wuhu, China.

Worked for Caran Automotive as a CAD designer. Had several contracts different for customers, but foremost Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks. Specialised as a body designer, both structural and exterior parts but also did short term contracts for chassis development and fuel systems.Responsibilities mainly concerned delivery of CAD models, detail drafts and vehicle process layouts. Also had responsibility to individually find and resolve issues, or host engineering meetings to resolve problems that required cross project efforts.Worked in a large cross-cultural project team between Volvo, Land Rover and Ford, creating the platform that is currently the base for the manufacturers medium to large European-built fleet of cars.
