Firmware EngineerAmazon Apr 2021 - Dec 2021Seattle, Wa, UsFirmware development and support for the Embedded Linux-based Amazon Glow device. Bootloader, recovery, and thermal management experience. -
Firmware EngineerAmazon Dec 2017 - Mar 2021Seattle, Wa, UsDesign and develop optimized C firmware for low power, memory constrained, real-time Bluetooth embedded devices in FreeRTOS environment. Worked on the Halo Band and Echo Loop.* Assisted with line bring-up at our CM on multiple occasions, both on-site and remotely.* Set up and maintained development pipeline from build to device provisioning.* RTOS management and optimization to maximize battery life.* Board bringup and crossfunctional debugging with EE team. -
Electronic Systems Development EngineerMitre Jan 2017 - Nov 2017Mclean, Va, UsFull time position writing C++ and Python software with the satellite navigation team to enhance navigation filtering capabilities, allowing navigation filters to be thoroughly tested in a realistic simulation environment. I was responsible for the development and testing of a new filter evaluation framework for prototyping new techniques to detect and mitigate GPS vulnerabilities. -
Electronic Systems Development InternMitre May 2016 - Aug 2016Mclean, Va, UsSummer 2016I worked on PNT-Hub, an Army sponsored project creating a position, navigation, and timing hub for all Army land vehicles. My task, along with another intern, was to implement an algorithm for detecting when the vehicle is stationary based solely upon accelerometer and gyroscope readings. This is used to recalibrate the navigation filter when GPS is not available.I was also a part of the second iteration of the embedded Capture the Flag competition for hardware security training. Working as a small team of interns, we successfully created a bootloader for an AVR microcontroller. The bootloader manages the start-up process and allows the code on the device to be updated by receiving and verifying encrypted firmware over the serial port. -
Electronic Systems Development InternMitre May 2015 - Apr 2016Mclean, Va, UsSummer 2015I worked on the application deployment system for the DARPA C2E Project helping develop a next-generation embedded system framework for military communications. I was heavily involved with the design and was responsible for the initial implementation of the deployment system.Additionally, I participated in a one-of-a-kind embedded systems attack and defend style capture the flag competition with other interns. This was an extended multi-week project investigating security, especially implementation security, of an Internet Of Things style device. -
Sensor Systems InternMitre May 2014 - Apr 2015Mclean, Va, UsSummer 2014I worked on the MITRE Experimental Radar (MXR) project on the signal processing and exploitation team. I was responsible for making improvements, fixing bugs throughout the MATLAB code base, and creating demonstrations to show the functionality of the framework. I worked with a moderately sized team of developers and mathematicians to advance the state of the art in multistatic radar. MITRE's multistatic radar framework supported multiple branches of the US military. -
Information Security InternVirginia Information Technologies Agency Jun 2012 - Jan 2014Richmond, Va, UsI interned under the Chief Information Security Officer of the Commonwealth of Virginia multiple times over summer and winter breaks. I was responsible for optimizing multiple aspects of the department's vulnerability monitoring system. I set up and managed a new Ubuntu Linux server (including firewall rules and other system configuration) with Apache, MySQL, and Python to monitor and store vulnerability information. Other tasks included writing object oriented Python scripts to work with web API's, parse and format data scraped from websites, and store information into a multi-table MySQL database scheme that I designed.
