My task, along with another intern, was to implement an algorithm for detecting when the vehicle is stationary based solely upon accelerometer and gyroscope readings. This is used to recalibrate the navigation filter when GPS is not available.I was also a part of the second iteration of the embedded Capture the Flag competition for hardware security training. Working as a small team of interns, we successfully created a bootloader for an AVR microcontroller. The bootloader manages the start-up process and allows the code on the device to be updated by receiving and verifying encrypted firmware over the serial port.
